| Hi girls, Vania, how nice you asked me to tell it was so beautiful, I have no words to say, the church, prayers, songs, silence, the talk between a brother and me, his words.....It's all so impressive, what I feel...what to do now.....but just beautiful!!! I didn't want to be back actually...now it's school, school, school and all the homework...but I try to go further on the way I saw in Taizé. I'm curious what Dan Brown says about Jesus... love to you all!! | |

| Hi, Rachel! I am so glad you are back! I hope you enjoyed your stay! And i want to wish you good luck for your exams! Well! About what Dan Brown says about Jesus! He says he was a young Jewish man that changed most of the teachings of his ancestors and that he was compassionate loving and forgiving! He also says that he was a simple mortal man ...was married to Maria Madalena , because companion at the time meant husband or wife... and that they both had a child named Sarah! Maria Madalana who was pregnant at the time of the cuxification flew to FRance where she gave birth to a daughter! If you haven't seen it yet...go and see it! It'a a very good movie!! BEIJOS!!! | |

Wow....Dan Brown says interesting, and maybe strange too, things...yes, Jesus could be alive in our hearts....he lives there in Taizé, I thought. and the brothers are all so good and warm and nice people.....you can't believe... - Quote :

[quote] Yes, dear it's very interesting! I too think, that what is important is what we believe in our hearts!!!And I think the community in Taize is a living example which honours Jesus' teachings! And..of course, I think it's important to respect people that have other beliefs and mingle and exchange ideas! I remember that when I read the book of Marianne Frederikson, one of the sentences that marked me in earnest was that Maria of Magdala was always saying!! """ write no rules!!! "stari: " Make no rules" " JUST BE LOVING AND COMPASSIONATE!! " IT COULD HAVE BEEN SO SIMPLE FOR MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ALL ALONG!!! BESOS!

| About our discussion DOES or DOESN'T Dan Brown compares the clothes of CuCluxClan with those of the spanish priests - I didn't found this in the Da Vinci Code, but probably it's in Angels and Demons. There were another comparisions that I can't invent so I suppose it<s in the other book. Kisses! | |

Perhaps Dan Brown thinks that all priests wear those robes in the whole country! As far as I remember, in the film they talked about Easter celebrations in Sevilla when Langton mentionned these clothes... And priests wear the same robes in some villages on Corsica, like Sartène during Easter celebrations. Is it almost the same as in Sevilla I think.

| Well, I also read "Angel and Demons" but to be honest I don't remember the detail you are talking about. Maybe it doesn't appear in the book and it is only a small detail the producer added to the movie. - Maria wrote:

I'm sure Maria, no one thinks of Spain as a horrible country with such customs. In fact, I'm sure everyone knows how "open-minded", developed and tolerant this country is. I never heard, from anyone, saying something bad of Spain. I heared only good things and praises. Even if it has such history, people are aware now that that was in the past. I think each country has some "bad memories" or things that are still haunting them, but to be honest, those are in the past. People are different now, rulers are different, the regime is different...I don't think you should worry Maria, no one, in the right mind, could generalize things this way... Spain is a wonderful country.... :<33:

I suppose we have to, but when I read Voltaire's Candide I was shocked by what he writes there about the Bulgarian people. Of course it's a book, but it seemed to me like a mockery (if that's the right word) because he represented the Bulgarian people as barbarians, as very cruel people. I was shocked, because at this period (that the book refers to) Bulgaria was under Ottoman rule (domination) and the people suffered so much and Voltaire dares to talk such things about us ... OK' I know it's a novel, but I can say that since I read the book I don't like Voltaire at all (sorry, Marina )

Don't worry about that dear Vania ! Even if I'm French, I'm not a big fan of Voltaire... As a matter of fact, I'm not a big fan of French litterature in 17th or 18th centuries , except some books by Diderot :study: . And I understand very well why you don't like this book. I haven't read this book, but I undesrtand you, don't worry about that.

| Je me sens soulagée, chère Marina (I can't say that in English sorry) For us, it was obligatory to read so many novels, poems and so on (I've studied French Philology, I'm not sure if I said it) so I can say that I know well the French litterature My favourite book is Notre-Dame de Paris I like too Jules Verne, but we didn't studied his novels, I don't know why - they're so interesting I like many others too ... But I can't remember all the names | |

| I have read Notre Dame de Paris, but it is not my favorite (I prefer the musical ! ). I really love Madame Bovary by Flaubert, and L'assomoir by Emile Zola. To tell you the truth, I haven't read a lot of French classical books. I'm sure that you know French litterature better than me ! | |

OK' I know it's a novel, but I can say that since I read the book I don't like Voltaire at all (sorry, Marina ) I think dear Vania that there are all kinds of different books. Some can harm, some not. Of course, it's not right to read such things. Even if it's a book, it can be written in a very pessimistic and upseting tone, and it can say very bad things. No one has to agree or accept those pages. There are books that can make you shiver or that can scare the hell out of you. There are books that can make you afraid. You are more than entitled to be upset on some books I haven't read that book, but I'm sure it must have been upseting. Kisses

I am sure he never visited these countries..although he did visit other "barbarians :"lol!: Most philosophers like to speculate....Although I teach philosophy, I don't like the book Candide Definitly not my cup of tea!! But ,he is remembered for his views on tolerance and humanism. ..at least he said he had them!!! Un monton de besos!
