I am a cafteria Catholic too!! In fact LOOOOTS...Thousands..I daresay, millions of people in catholic countries are. :zy: :zy:

As for the Opus Dei...I think Bea, does not know the people...We , in POrtugal, simply know that they belong to it, because they have said it or our newspapers have written It! :mdr:
Most of them are common enough, although very serious!

One of our ministers was always defending that women should have more children :mdr: ..but well. here women don't wish it...only want to have the children they choose and plan to have soooo...we are all excommunicated!

MILLIONS OF WOMEN ARE ALSO EXCOMMUNICATED IN SPAIN TOO!!! lol!

BEA ALSO WROTE!

Dear Maria! heart2

Just a word to you, about this!
I know you are going to watch this in spanish because the movies over there are dubbed so you wouldn't be able to perceive the following! shocked
When the cahracters that belong to Opus DEi speak they do it either in latin or in spanish! shocked shocked shocked
I think that it is a terrible injustice to people in Spain today...and to your country..which is becoming one of the most developed countries in Europe today!!! ! shocked shocked As a matter of fact Spain is growing more than Germany these days!!!  There are people that belong to Opus Dei in Spain..but there are lots of :mdr: people who are Opus DEi in other Catholic Countries! shocked shocked shocked
Soooo...why pick on Spain???? :respect: :respect: :respect:

The fact that they put lol! the characters that belong to the OPUS DEI to speak spanish does not come as a surprise!
In fact..It was a spaniard that founded Opus DEI! lol! lol! and In my country there are over half a million people that belong to it!! lol!
I am not offended..but perhaps DAN BROWN has a very poor idea WHAT MY COUNTRY IS TODAY!!! lol! shocked shocked

I just wanted to say this!

Most Catholics did not want this Pope! Sad Sad
We wanted someone that had more open ideas! saaad saaad
I think that change in certain issues cannot be deterred now!!! nooo nooo
Millions od Catholics have been waiting for it!! Basketball Basketball Basketball loveall

It's true. I agree. Romania is mostly an Orthodox country, but there are many catholics as well. My family from my mom's side are all catholics and I am also a catholic. We all disaprooved :disap: the choices those bishops did. I really sympathised Pope John Paul II Sad and in my opinion he succeeded to change many thisng in our agitated and tormented world.

The actual Pope read officially some rules that a women has to respect :angel2: . In my opinion this was a bit out of line. She has to be submissive, to shut up. He almost said that a woman is just a bearer.
Maybe I'm wrong and I took these statements out of the contex, but eitherway. I kind of miss Pope John Paul.

Thanks, dearest! :<33:

Well...you know I saw it in spanish...because they dubb the movies here..but I was already told that the Opus Dei Characters spoke either latin or spanish! lol!
But..I was shocked when Langdon sort of compares the clothes of KU KLux Klan with the robes of spanish priests during Easter in the SEVILLA PROCESSIONS! :shocked:Most of the people in the audience were shocked too!
I haven't had time yet to find that part in the book shocked ...but I am going to look!
Silas is a complex character..but I doubt that any catholic monk still uses flogging as a penitence! shocked I thought the same when I read the book!!
Catholic monks today, are perfect common people that have chose a certain way of life!
I fact,..most catholic monks , usually help the poor and the helpless just like the monks thst appear in Zorro part one and part !! lol! lol!
They protect the weak and help political refugees! lol! [ I am not talking about the bishops and the high hierarchy!]It was always sooo!!! :stari:

I liked Tom Hanks and Sophie Tatou!! They have some chemistry and that makes the movie more interesting!

I liked That part when the confusion and commotion in the Niceia meeting is shown,... because that can explain why some of the mistakes along these centuries have been commited...
And I also liked the way the action unfolds especially in the Louvre! :cheer: :cheer:
And that part when Teabing shows that Maria of Magadala rests her face on Jesus shoulders , when he is showing the last Supper painting and shiftes the figure is delightful!!! :surce: :surce: :dube:

WELL..IT IS A VERY GOOD movie..but, forgive me ...I liked the book better! :surce:

Silly, silly Vania Rolling Eyes sorry, Maria, I read only the beginning of your post and than my colleague told me something, distracting me Rolling Eyes and I forgot to read it till the end silent pale now I read it Very Happy
I think in the book too, Langdon compares the clothes of the CuCluxClan with the clothes of Spanish priests, I'm almost sure of it, also the other signs he shows in the movies are mentioned in the book (I read it 2 weeks ago, so I remember well Smile )

Kisses!

If I remember well, he didn't compare the clothes but said that some pictures can throw into confusion if it is not taken as a whole. Anyway, it is what I think... But Dan Brown didn't write anything about it (if i remember well. I looked in the book but I didn't find this passage).
