| Wow! The wonderful words from Vasko, Natalia, and Genady have lifted my spirits and I know Maxim and Albena are also very thankful for them. I don't know if these kinds of things are taken into consideration by those who will ultimately judge in Maxim's case. I do hope they will be considered and will weigh the balance in Maxim's favor. Thanks for sharing them! | |

| Thank you, Viktoria, for providing the above translations.
This letter from Maxim and Albena's coaches provides the best depth and scope of the price Maxim paid to win two World Championships for the people of Bulgaria. To me, it illuminates so well that one can not just wake up one morning and say, "I want to be a World Champion Ice Dancer for my country." These two Olympic Ice Dancers tell us clearly that this honor requires a lifetime of rigorous preparation.
And no one can make me believe that Albena's home nation has not benefited from the hard work Maxim contributed to win these honors for Bulgaria. For example, the only thing I could have told anyone about Bulgaria before seeing Albena and Maxim in the broadcast of the 2006 SkateAmerica competition was that it was one of the Balkan States. But I knew when I saw them perform that this young couple had a very special quality, so now I frequently speak of Albena, Maxim, and Bulgaria. My close friends and family know how worried I am about Maxim and Albena and sympathetically inquire about the situation. The reason they do is because I've described what a good person Maxim is and how well-grounded and down-to-earth he is. All of us are hoping for the best for Albena and Maxim during this time.
It just does not seem fair to draw a circle around this accident without considering Maxim's disciplined lifestyle and his hard work. And, while I've read some horribly depraved suggestions about Maxim in some Bulgarian online media since this accident, I do not believe the majority of Bulgarians share these terrible thoughts.
If they do, I can only say that forgiveness is a very important and wonderful concept in the family of man. Every one of us has the rest of our life to experience a terrible event like this, with no intent to do anyone harm. If this happened to me, I can't say that I would conduct myself as a mature adult with strong principles like Maxim has. What I will say is that forgiveness may be why, after thousands of years, there continues to be a community of caring souls who, as in this case, are hoping and praying for the best outcome for someone we will probably never see face-to-face. The reason we are united in our care is because Albena and Maxim have been such strong leaders and have influenced people the world over in a very positive and good way. It is my sincere hope and belief that their work will be allowed to continue.

| I am really touched.....I was sure that Maxim was a precious man, but to read these net and clear words stated from his austere teachers, it's a very good feeling... Thanks to all who have comprehended Maxim's human quality and trumpet it. It's the least that we can do for him! ..and again thanks to viktoria! | |

It's the least that we can do for him! ..and again thanks to viktoria! Yes, it´s really a good feeling to read such words from people who really know him closer!! When reading in other forums, and here I especially think of "one" I don´t want to name here, especially in the first days and weeks after the accident, it was very hard! They were writing so bad things about Max there and reduced him and his "human quality" only to the accident. They forgot everything else!!! And when I read newspaper articles from novinite, standartnews ... I sometimes have the impression that they reduce Max to the time after the accident, too. And that makes me sad, very, very sad ... So, reading these two articles translated by Viktoria brought me a little bit of sunshine! It´s so good to see that he´s not forgotten by his close friends. And I want to say "thank you" to Vasko Vassiliev, Natalia Linichuk and Gennadi Karpanossov for saying what they said aloud! Because these two articles show us the "real" Maxim, and not the Maxim media during the last three months wanted him to reduce to ...

Thank you for writing to the news papers. I was amazed to see five papers in one day and none of them translating litterally the press-conference. They were just taking single phrases out of context. It is true and because of wrong or twisted translation people all over the word are reading those articles and getting wrong message and impression about them.In one of those articles they quoted Albena and the translation was "victim" when it should be "affected" and no other explanation was given. In fact she was talking , how the negativity against Max was affecting her equally but then i guess for some journalists is more convenient to do it this way.

| This is why I come to this forum to get the news. So many of you have multi-lingual skills, and you can see through the disreputable fodder and trash talk.
I imagine when all is settled, and, after everything has been said and done, people the world over will realize that no trash talk is as powerful as Albena and Maxim on the ice, performing their own new programmes as only they can. They just need to keep working every day, doing all the good they possibly can.

| I should probably appologize to people who don't speak both languages. I could translate the press-conference. Yet, I didn't think that sticking my nose in people's tragedy by watching the video over and over was appropriate if the newspapers were going to translate it anyway. We all know what they did first. | |

| No, I don't think you should apologize for your sensitivity about Maxim. The video is difficult to watch for people who have followed Maxim and Albena and who have seen what good people they are.
I would like to keep it for a reference in case something happens to me like this, so I can review what a classy person Maxim has been during this time. I would try to follow Maxim's example, but something tells me I might not get very far.

| Thank you, Serena. Sometimes, when injustice is so evident, thoughts bubble over, and I feel compelled to let them out.
But, very humbly, I have to say that this is the only thing I can do here. I'm not multi-lingual, nor do I have the sophisticated digital media technlogy skills that I admire so much in some of the members of this forum. I am continually impressed with Maxim and Albena and their close fans who gather here. This is such a wonderful forum due to its members, and it seems more like a close community to me.

| I know we still discussed it in the IceAge topic, but now it´s officially in the English speaking press : Bulgaria´s Maxim Staviski suffered broken knee in deadly crash http://www.novinite.com/view_news.php?id=87381 Quote:"This emerged only after he accidentally fell two weeks ago and an ultrasound scanner detected the cap on his knee was broken. "Doctors said the tap was broken during the crash. I´m staying at home now since I should not move the leg,"" Maxim said, confirming earlier reports in the Belarusian press." So, it seems to be true . The same information seems to be here, in Bulgarian: http://dnes.dir.bg/2007/11/10/news2318491.html Maxim, I hope you will be better soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I´m so for what has happened to you ... Perhaps the Bulgarian girls can tell us more about this ? Thanks!

| According to the article in dnes.dir.bg. Maxim said that after the accident his knee was swollen and very painful but he did not pay too much attention and thought it is going to heal anyway. When two weeks ago after the fall /because of a sharp pain / he had X-Ray/Roentgen/ it appeared that he had an old partial knee fracture .He was told by doctors that the fracture is vertical and he need only brace and to be immobilized .He should be doing Physical Therapy for two more weeks and then he could take the brace off. Also it says that if the fracture was horizontal he couldn't be able to move and he would need immediate surgery. This and considering the fact that Max has high pain tolerance it explains how he was able to skate . I wish him fast recovery and to get well soon | |
