Тогава Висшият касационен съд ще гледа жалбата на Красимир Горсов срещу условната присъда на Стависки от две години и половина. Стависки бе наказан и с 80 хиляди лева на изпадналата в кома след катастрофата Мануела Горсова.
Присъствието на шампионите в залата не е задължително. Двамата обаче решили, че е техен морален дълг да отидат.

I´m not familiar with Bulgarian law (!), but as far as I understood it from the articles I read and from what I read in Bulgarian forum it is not possible to change the sentence tomorrow! It is only possible to confirm it or to give it back to first instance!
So let´s pray that the sentence will be confirmed, that the prosecutors and the relatives of the victims will accept the sentence this time, and that there won´t be another appeal because this would mean another trial at the European Court for Human Rights in Strasbourg!

I just found an article from today (not from "Standart"!) with an interview with Mr. Gorsov, that as a whole is not worth being published here. Only one sentence is important: Gorsov said that his wife Diana said she will pursue Maxim until last resort ...

Well...they should first check what is European court of human rights for and how it works. Since they can´t sue Maxim there, they can only sue Bulgaria and also the court has no right change the decision of Bulgarian courts.
The only think they can get there (if they are succesfull with their claim) is that Bulgaria will pay them financial compensation for the damages caused by the decision of Bulgarian courts, but that´s probably what they really want.....

So, we will have to wait another month until the Supreme Court will tell the sentence...
At the moment no exact date is given...

Thank you for the news Petra.We all hoped that the final decision would be made .Another long month It was very brave of Albena to appear in the courtroom with Max .At least they put all those rumors away.

I think both Albena and Maxims are heroes just for appearing in the court room, considerring they have to train hard for the show and teach the non-pro partners.

I've read through this thread of the forum many times before I joined in, after I've learned about Maxims accident (I must admit that I came to learn about it fairly late, in spring this year, the trial in January had already been over and everyone was waiting for the first appeal trial in April by that time). My heart went out to Maxim instantly (and, of course, to Albena), and I read through all these articles and looked at the pictures and a milllion thoughts have since entagled in my mind. How must this feel? They're going through an ordeal barely imaginable for someone who has never experienced anything the like...

I had also hoped for an end of this - waiting for a verdict must be hellish.
I agree with you, it's good to see them together, they belong together and that's reassuring. They gave proof of their decency and bravery by going to the court, since they were not obliged to.
I wish them all the strengh and energy of the world to get on...

There's still one thing I'd like to know, for I'm also not familiar with the Bulgarian law:

No, you're not wrong, Petra and why. These are the two possibilities of the Court - to confirm the verdict or give the case back to the prosecutors or the Burgas court.

I think we knew so many things about the Bulgarian legal system the last year we became specialists...

The year was 1999 ,I was sitting in front of TV , watching a figure skating competition, when on the ice came out a young duet-the Bulgarian flag appeared too-and I heard the names-Albena Denkova and Maxim Staviski .
I realized then , that on the international scene ,in unknown /she meant not very popular/for us sport we had competitors - no,actualy not only competitors but two brave hearted ,talented fighters. For years I was enjoying ,crying , worrying and going mad every time they were competing and when I was watching ,how their work was unappreciated /the right translation is stamp down/.The year was 2006 and the next World Figure Skating Championship came - they went out and did the unbelievable , like a magic ,they captured the ice and nobody could deny -Bulgarians were Number One in the World .In 2007 the impossible happened again and we all were more than proud with our two sportsmen - football /soccer /, volleyball and everything else stayed aside , everybody was watching Albena and Max, everyone wanted to reach them, their glory and success .And just like that, while we were enjoying them ,few months passed and came August 5,2007 , and turned the people’s favorites into the most hated .It was a pity , how we were able to transfer our curiosity from watching their performances to following the tragedy that crashed four families- those of Petar, Manuela, Albena and Maxim. With huge interest the whole country was watching what will happened next , and meanwhile dozens of lives were ruined , but we still were watching and watching and commenting . I don’t want to be misunderstood - when a person breaks the Law, needs to take the consequences of his actions , if you kill a human being ,yes ,you have to go to jail .However, this has to happen and to be valid for everybody ,not to be chosen electively ,like everything else in Bulgaria, so one can pay for everyone’s crimes,because this is exactly what we were trying to do with Maxim.
Maxim killed a man, yes, he put in coma a young girl but once again I would’ve answered positively if someone asked me : Didn’t we kill Maxim with our words? Maybe now you could say “ Yes but the killer still lives his life” . I saw Maxim at the press conference that he held after the accident -and I could tell you that Maxim does not live his life. He doesn’t live anymore. I understood this at the moment I looked into his eyes ,even though he was trying to hide them from us ,the journalists. There was no life , the vividness ,that was sparkling every time he was talking , every time he was skating in front of us ,the audience ,was gone. Exactly then ,at this particular moment I realized that we had to stop throwing stones at those who were guilty .We needed to think about and ask ourselves :What Maxim did/driving after having one drink/, haven’t most of us done it before / at least once/ and what right do we have to judge him?
My name is Theresa Zakharieva and I can admit in front of everybody , it happened to me . Just five days ago , I had a drink and I got behind the wheel. Yes ,I got lucky , luck which Maxim didn’t have , and I don’t know if I am going to be that fortunate again. Luck, that I don’t know if you are going to have one day .
