Yes, this name exists. It's not really common, but it exists Wink

In one word, right. It's not like Buna ziua

Almost ! :cheer: You forgot the U for Roumaine. If you forgot it, we can think that you live in Rome Very Happy .

Quote :

If you're a girl, yes. E is the French mark for feminine (you put it at the end of adjectives too).
So, a man is Roumain, Français, Espagnol, Allemand (German), Anglais (English), Américain, Canadien (I forgot Canada Go Jess & Bryce! oups :blush2: ) but a woman is Roumaine, Française, Espagnole, Allemande, Anglaise, Américaine, Canadienne.
Some exceptions : we say Russe for both.
And for Italian people, we say : Italien and Italienne, with 2 -nne for women (EDIT : it's the same for Canadien/Canadienne :blush2: ).

If a nationality ends in -ien, don't you always use -ienne for the feminin version? Very Happy Also, if for example I were to write the number 32, should I write "trente-deux" or is the "-" not necessary? Erm.. Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! Sometimes I forget the basics, because I learned them too long ago! Razz hehe. :respect:

P.S. I think that French lessons are a great idea. :vo: I am interested in learning some slang, if anyone could teach me some.

Yes... Any exemples came in my mind, but now you talk about it, yes, it's always -ien/-ienne (Arménien/Arménienne, Géorgien/Géorgienne, Indien/Indienne) :respect: .

Yes, it's necessary. Maybe Elise can't write the "-" with her keyboard (Elise, tu peux éditer ton post stp, avec les tirets ? Lana veille au grain :respect: On n'a pas intérêt à faire de fautes Erm.. ).

You can't know nothing after studying French for 6 years ! (well, it's possible actually, I learned German for years, and I know nothing :kataus: ).
But I'm sure you have some skills :vo: . And a really cute Russian accent nice .

Of course ! I'm not alone with Elise here. If you want to do a lesson, you can zvet

Anya, have you memorized all numbers ? Lana writes!)
So... how old are you ?
--> quel âge as-tu ?

Lesson 4 : to be

This is the most important verb, just like in English and other languages I guess.

To be = être

I am ................ Je suis
You are ............Tu es
He/she is ......... Il/elle est
We are .............Nous sommes
You are ........... Vous êtes
They are ......... Ils/Elles sont

Two words about pronounciation now... Final letters are not pronounced here in suis, es, est, sommes, êtes, sont, nous, vous, ils/elles.

Yay Vania ! :cheer:

So, dear students, you have to see something now you know these 2 verbs.
In English, we say "I am 21 years old" (to be), but in French, we say "J'ai 21 ans" (with avoir = to have) and not Je suis... Wink
It's a common mistake that French people do when they learn English.

Ooooh, I have a really good idea for next lesson. Hehe... tomorrow Wink
