I always thought it is made of 2 distinct words) ma petite Marina et bonjour Liz, Je m'appele Alexandra et je suis Romaine. J'habite a Timisoara. Is it corect?! You know, you can always edit our quotes and underline the errors with red so, you add 'e' after each nationality? Merci Ahh..it is great

(lol That a part that I remember from my French lessons about Moscow... I hope you understand my "turkish french" ) Erm... Are you sure you need French lessons ? That's absolutely perfect, no mistakes at all . - Quote :
- Marina, yes , that how my teacher called me at french lessons! I'm not sure if I like it really much... But it's nice! I hope you really have such name in France or I was deceived
Yes, this name exists. It's not really common, but it exists - alexandra wrote:

If you're a girl, yes. E is the French mark for feminine (you put it at the end of adjectives too). So, a man is Roumain, Français, Espagnol, Allemand (German), Anglais (English), Américain, Canadien (I forgot Canada oups ) but a woman is Roumaine, Française, Espagnole, Allemande, Anglaise, Américaine, Canadienne. Some exceptions : we say Russe for both. And for Italian people, we say : Italien and Italienne, with 2 -nne for women (EDIT : it's the same for Canadien/ Canadienne ). - Quote :
- Merci

I hope ( j'espère). It's not really easy to explain French in English , so I hope that everybody who doesn't speak French will understand . But these 2 lessons are pretty easy , so I think it's okay

If a nationality ends in -ien, don't you always use -ienne for the feminin version? Also, if for example I were to write the number 32, should I write "trente-deux" or is the "-" not necessary? Thanks! Sometimes I forget the basics, because I learned them too long ago! hehe. P.S. I think that French lessons are a great idea. I am interested in learning some slang, if anyone could teach me some.

Yes, it's necessary. Maybe Elise can't write the "-" with her keyboard (Elise, tu peux éditer ton post stp, avec les tirets ? Lana veille au grain On n'a pas intérêt à faire de fautes ). - Quote :

You can't know nothing after studying French for 6 years ! (well, it's possible actually, I learned German for years, and I know nothing ). But I'm sure you have some skills . And a really cute Russian accent . - aline wrote:

Of course ! I'm not alone with Elise here. If you want to do a lesson, you can Anya, have you memorized all numbers ? So... how old are you ? --> quel âge as-tu ?Lesson 4 : to be This is the most important verb, just like in English and other languages I guess. To be = êtreI am ................ Je suisYou are ............Tu esHe/she is ......... Il/elle estWe are .............Nous sommesYou are ........... Vous êtesThey are ......... Ils/Elles sontTwo words about pronounciation now... Final letters are not pronounced here in suis, es, est, sommes, êtes, sont, nous, vous, ils/elles.

Yay Vania ! So, dear students, you have to see something now you know these 2 verbs. In English, we say "I am 21 years old" (to be), but in French, we say "J'ai 21 ans" (with avoir = to have) and not Je suis... It's a common mistake that French people do when they learn English. Ooooh, I have a really good idea for next lesson. Hehe... tomorrow
