Skate America (Oct. 26-29th, 2006)

Hi, girls! It's not fair I wasn't able to enter in the forum this weekend - I wanted to be here to discuss with you our sweet couple. I even wasn't home - so, no TV, no radio, no Internet I knew the results Sunday evening (watching the sport news on a TV channel where the reporter said that Albena and Max have won Skate Canada hehe).

No need to tell I'm very happy - you know it!
And thanks to all for the awesome pics and videos! I'm downloading now the free dance hoping it will work for me. I didn't watch the other programs yet, but I'm sure they're amazing!

Oh yeah. I pretty much figured they had.

Please, can someone re-upload the free dance of Albena and Max. I've already downloaded it, but I don't remember in which folder (I know, I'm sooo distracted ) and all the links there has expired, because they reached the number of downloads (so many people wanting to have this FD )

They were stunning. Just stunning. Compulsory? Practically perfect. OD? Amazing. FD? Amazingish-- you can tell it's the one they've been working on for the shortest time, but it didn't look rough or unpolished or slow, just a little new. Give it another month or so and it'll be right up there at "amazing". I was like, "Who are you, and what have you done with Albena and Maxim?" Because they have never been that strong in the fall, but... they are now!

Oh yeah. I pretty much figured they had.

Between Albena and Maxim, Gregory and Petukhov (sooooo much improved and more interesting! I couldn't believe how much I liked them this weekend!) and Pechalat/Bourzat (again, SOOOOOOOO much improved, I would never have recognized them!), that last flight of the FD had people very, very puzzled.

I thought it was someone listing off the seven deadly sins, too. I'm not sure if they were in Spanish though. If they were, Maria could you translate them? That would be wonderful, if you could.

Anyhow, maybe the person who wrote that didn't understand that the speaker was listing the 7 sins. Or maybe the person meant that they were "quoting" the 7 sins. I really don't know.

I'm very glad that Albena and Max won - I didn't really doubt it, not with the competition they'd got, but I'm glad they did it and I very much hope that they aren't seriously hurt from the collision!

Please, could anyone post the FD, but not on yousendit because it doesn't seem to like me, and doesn't let me access any of the links. Any other server would be fine!

The ESPN commentary here said that they were the seven deadly sins being named in Latin, and from my recollection, it well could have been.

I also wondered why the broadcasts of this competition seemed to inlcude so much more noise from the scratching and clicking of the skates on the ice. The commentary said that there were (eight, I believe) microphones buried in the ice to give the TV audience more of a feel of being right there by the boards. Also they said you can tell more about the performance by the noise the skates make, whether they're gliding on the blade, or scraping on the toe pick and so on. Interesting! :study: :study:

Ahhh...the beauty of their skating. I believe I have watched their simply amazing free dance at least 40 times in the past 2 days. I do believe that the microphones buried in the ice are interesting, but at times they get annoying. I was reading reports from the practice, and my heart literally stopped when I read about them colliding with the Kerrs. I really do hope that they have a speedy recovery! Such splendor from our amazing couple! They truly deserved the gold medal. May they do wonderfully the entire season and double their World title.

At first, I thought that I was listening to a text in spanish,but in the end, I came to the conclusion it was latin....

Hi girls!!!

I just came back from Skate America!!! soooooooooo tired with sooooooooooo long time flight!!! but it was sooooooooooooooo amazing and wonderful to stay in NYC and watching Albena and Maxim's skating!!!!!!! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee THEY WON!!!!!!!

I also made photos and video(from practice) and post them later!

Thanks, Grace. Latin would make sense. I wasn't really sure of the language, because I couldn't hear the speaker too well. Sunday night, I had printed off the list from Wikipedia and was trying to match the sins with parts of the program. I don't think I was very good at it. hehe.
