2008 WC in Gotheborg

I believe is time to open this topic .Some news from ice dance .Domnina and Shabalin will miss this championship due to old trauma.Maxim still have problems with his knee and for the last two days there were articles about their decision and it is been confirmed by the President of Russian Federation Valentin Piseev.Here is the article/in Russian/

"2008 European Champions in Ice Dancing, winners of the 2008 ISU Grand Prix Final Oxana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin will not be able to participate in the ISU World Figure Skating Championships to be held on March 17-23 in Goteborg, Sweden, the FSFR President Valentin Piseev was quoted as saying.
During practice Maxim Shabalin twisted his leg and fell acute pain in his knee, which was operated in December. After careful examination on March 11 by Professor Anatoly Orletskiy in the Central Institute of Trauma and Orthopedy (CITO) the partial injury of the left knee inner-side ligaments was diagnosed. Maxim was recommended to eliminate physical activity for two weeks and prescribed a course of rehabilitation therapy.
Final decision regarding the course of treatment will be determined after consultations with the specialists including the head of CITO Sergey Mironov.
Unfortunately, withdrawal of Oxana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin from participation in the World Figure Skating Championships will not allow the Russian skaters to compete for gold.
The FSFR President expressed his hopes that Maxim will successfully overcome his injury consequences and will compete at the highest level at the future Championships and 2010 Olympic Games.
Substitute Ice Dancing couple Ekaterina Bobrova – Dmitry Soloviev will participate in the World Figure Skating Championships in Goteborg instead of Oxana and Maxim."

– Two-time World bronze medalist Evan Lysacek has withdrawn form the 2008 World Figure Skating Championships, taking place in Gothenburg, Sweden, March 17-23. Lysacek will be replaced by 2005 U.S. junior champion Jeremy Abbott.
