part 1:

Двукратный чемпион мира по фигурному катанию среди танцевальных пар (2006, 2007 гг.) Максим Ставиский родился в 1977 году в Ростове-на-Дону. В паре с Албеной Денковой выступал за Болгарию. В «Ледниковом периоде» в уходящем году участвовал впервые, катался с артисткой Татьяной Арнтгольц. Несмотря на то, что из-за досадного пропуска полуфинального соревновательного дня их пара лишена возможности бороться за призовые места в телевизионном проекте, по мнению «Новой Охты», Максим с Татьяной стали подлинным открытием третьего сезона «Ледникового периода» и бесспорно достойны нашего внимания.

- Максим, как повлиял на Вас «Ледниковый период», помог ли проект открыть в себе что-то новое?
- Этот проект уникален. Во-первых, я был удивлён, с какой скоростью учатся кататься актёры, «звёзды». Во-вторых, развиваются и переходят на новый уровень работы сами фигуристы. Это не шоу и не соревнование — это театр, в котором для всех уникальная практика. Я был очень счастлив, что меня пригласили в этот проект (приглашали и в прошлом году, но я не смог по личным причинам), приехал в Москву заранее, помогал Илье накатывать других «звёзд». Старался отнестись к этому проекту с полной серьёзностью и думаю, что, в принципе, справился.
Мы играли на зрителя. Нам хотелось понравиться, чтобы танец оценили прежде всего зрители. Если за нас так много голосуют, если в Интернете так много хороших отзывов, значит, мы всё делаем правильно.

- Очень многие поклонники всерьёз переживают за дальнейшую судьбу вашей пары после неучастия в полуфинале «Ледникового периода». Что произошло?
- Всё произошедшее закономерно. В течение всего проекта Таня не только каталась (что само по себе является большой нагрузкой для людей, не связанных со спортом), но и снималась в кино, выезжала на гастроли. Кроме того, в последнюю неделю она попросила, чтобы мы тренировались два раза в день. С раннего утра она ехала на тренировку, потом на съёмки, потом опять на тренировку. Спать ложилась поздно, вставала рано. Каждую роль, которую мы изображаем на льду, она пропускает через себя. Поэтому каждые съёмки, каждое выступление для неё — большой стресс. Когда вся усталость к концу проекта собралась воедино, а ещё произошла резкая перемена погоды, у неё подскочило давление.
К счастью, Татьяна быстро справилась с этим кризисом, не захотела ложиться в больницу, поехала на очередные съёмки. Ей каждый день ставили капельницу, но потом она выходила на лёд и тренировалась.

part 2:

- Как Вы ощущали и проживали номер из военной программы?
- Естественно, нас самих война не затронула, но эта тема просто обязана быть близкой любому человеку, который живёт в России. У всех нас дедушки и бабушки воевали.
Когда Нина Ургант поёт песню из фильма «Белорусский вокзал», понимаешь, что в этот образ несложно вжиться. У этой песни такая мощная энергетика, она так на тебя действует, что, находясь на льду в окружении зрителей и световых эффектов, то есть в абсолютно невоенной обстановке, действительно ощущаешь себя как в окопе.
На оценки этого номера наплевать — упали и упали, чёрт с ним. В этом падении нет ничего удивительного: все ребята катались на надрыве, и Таня — не исключение.

- Как родился номер на музыку из фильма «Реквием по мечте»? Это Ваш любимый фильм?
- Фильм очень сильный. Я смотрел его один раз и больше не хочу — слишком сильно он меня потряс. Но эту музыку я услышал раньше, чем увидел фильм и предлагал взять её для произвольной программы в случае, если бы мы с Албеной решили участвовать в Зимней олимпиаде 2010 года. С тех пор эта композиция висела у меня в компьютере, а когда мы пришли в «Ледниковый период», я предложил её Саше Жулину и хореографу Игорю Аршуляку. У Игоря офис в машине: он садится, слушает несколько мелодий и придумывает идею. Мы сели в его машину вместе, я включил композицию из «Реквиема», после чего Игорь сказал: «Всё, у меня есть идея! Не хочу слушать ничего другого, идём и делаем номер!» Он рассказал мне, как видит будущий танец, мне это пришлось по душе.
Этот номер не развлекательный, катать его во второй раз будет трудно, потому что он больше не произведёт того эффекта, который был в первый раз — и у зрителей, и у судей. Я видел их глаза, понимал, как мы на них подействовали этим номером.
Да, этот номер стал одним из моих любимых. И Таня прекрасно вжилась в роль, ей сделали пугающий грим, идея была хорошо подана — всё срослось.

- А Scorpions — “Still loving you” — Ваша любимая музыка?
- Все мелодии из номеров, которые мы ставили, — это любимая музыка. Гендель, Scorpions, «Реквием по мечте», Магомаева мы танцевали, очень нравится «Вечная любовь». А когда узнал, что будет военная тема, сразу зарезервировал для себя песню из фильма «Белорусский вокзал» и «Тёмную ночь».
В определённое время Scorpions была одной из моих любимых групп. Илья Авербух выдвинул идею номера, мы поддержали. Я предлагал Тане очень сложные элементы и поддержки и до сих пор удивляюсь, как она на них решилась.

part 3:

Ваши интервью отличаются бескомпромиссной честностью. В них нет попыток красиво уйти от ответа или притвориться. Быть таким честным легко?
- Я не обманываю, поэтому мне не нужно хитрить и изворачиваться. Меня родители научили говорить прямо. Возможно, уметь красиво уйти тоже нужно, но мне не от чего уходить. Все проблемы я стараюсь встречать лицом к лицу. Проблем у меня было много и, думаю, они ещё будут. Пытаться убегать от них или лить горючие слёзы бесполезно, поэтому надо встречать все вызовы судьбы прямо.

- Хорошо, что у Вас нет никакой чемпионской гордыни, позёрства…
- (улыбается) А перед кем мне позировать?

- А почему ваш сайт называется «Любовь и магия»?
- Это изобрели наши болгарские фанаты. Так они чувствуют нас с Албеной. Любовь, конечно, у нас есть, а там, где есть любовь, должна появляться какая-то магия.

- Ваши танцы с Албеной — о любви?
- Сначала наши танцы отличались абстрактностью и креативом, потом мы изображали самые разные чувства: любовь, ненависть, любовь, граничащую с ненавистью. Мы кидались в крайности, но у нас были очень хорошие учителя, которые помогли нам проживать свои танцы. Возможно, поэтому наши выступления были доступны зрительскому пониманию.

- Где сейчас Ваш дом?
- На катке! (смеётся) Я провёл на льду 26 лет. Родители Албены живут в Софии, мои — в Москве. Родители Албены стали родными для меня, а мои — для неё. И в Болгарии, и в России я чувствую себя как дома. Обе страны очень много мне дали, бессмысленно их сравнивать. А вообще спортсмен живёт там, где есть работа. Пока у нас есть работа в России, и очень хорошая работа…

part 4:

- Вы неоднократно бывали в Петербурге. У Вас появились любимые места в нашем городе?
- Петербург — это красивейший город. Однажды я специально поехал на обзорную экскурсию в белые ночи, чтобы осмотреть его получше.
Когда я в Петербурге иду по улице, то постоянно кручу головой, потому что весь город состоит из памятников архитектуры — невозможно не оглядываться. Мне приятно приезжать в ваш город и на соревнования, поскольку Дворец спорта «Юбилейный» всегда забит битком. В Москве на таких мероприятиях могут быть свободные места, а зрители аплодируют не очень активно, но в Питере всегда аншлаги, всегда страстные фаны, которые готовы бросаться к тебе на лёд. Выступать в Питере — огромное удовольствие, чувствуешь невиданную поддержку зала, которую я не встречал ни в одном другом городе мира. Спасибо Петербургу!

- При таком напряжённом графике остаётся ли у Вас время для чтения?
- Я очень много читал и стараюсь читать. У нас много длинных переездов, это располагает к чтению. Я вырос в читающей семье, у нас была большая домашняя библиотека. Прочитал всего Жюля Верна, Джека Лондона, Вальтера Скотта, очень любил приключенческие книги. Из современных авторов мне очень нравится Лукьяненко. Это не просто тупая фантастика, а действительно умные книги, как у братьев Стругацких, которых, кстати, я тоже прочитал целиком.
А вообще я люблю разные книги: весёлые и серьёзные. Обожаю Есенина, очень люблю Пушкина. Моя тётя была школьным учителем русского языка и литературы. Возможно, любовь к книгам передалась мне с генами: я люблю читать, а в школе у меня не было проблем с литературой.

- Во время этапов недавно завершившегося Кубка мира по фигурному катанию Вы выступали на одном из спортивных телеканалов в качестве комментатора соревнований. Как Вы им стали?
- Я стал? (смеётся) Просто меня позвали, я пришёл, прокомментировал в эфире одни соревнования — понравилось. Надеюсь, что ещё пригласят.

part 5 (=last one):

Работа тренера Вам нравится?
- Это сложный труд. Надо иметь крепкие нервы, быть гибким психологом. Но самом деле, я ещё не работаю тренером, а только учусь им быть под руководством Саши Жулина. Саша позвонил, предложил работать у него — я принял это предложение с удовольствием. Работать с ним очень легко: он не деспот и не диктатор, всегда находится в диалоге со спортсменом. У него хорошая группа, состоящая из сильных пар.
Саша приглашал меня вторым тренером, но пока я выбрал работу консультанта — в связи с туром «Ледникового периода» я не смогу постоянно присутствовать на тренировках. Поэтому я прихожу и помогаю по мере своих возможностей.
А вообще это огромная ответственность. Недавно прошёл чемпионат Москвы, мы с Сашей стояли у бортика в качестве тренеров, и я не находил себе места. Ты стоишь, чувствуешь себя беспомощным, сделать ничего не можешь, только нервничаешь и обливаешься потом. А когда всё закончилось, Саша повернулся и сказал: «Теперь ты понял, что такое быть тренером?» Я отвечаю: «Да, Саша, не знаю, как всё это выдержать…» А он добавляет: «Представляешь, каково здесь, когда твоя жена катается на Олимпиаде?..»

- Кем бы в будущем Вам хотелось стать?
- Мы про будущее не загадываем. Всё настолько непредсказуемо, что планированием можно только себя расстроить. Сейчас у меня есть прекрасная работа, надеюсь, что и в будущем появятся возможности как-то себя реализовать.

- Что бы Вы пожелали читателям «Новой Охты»?
- Здоровья. Просто я понял, что когда человек здоров (физически, психически, морально), он всё сможет перебороть. Когда есть силы, можно решить все проблемы. А всё остальное придёт…

The first part of the interview

Two-times World Figure Skating Champion (2006, 2007) Maxim Staviski was born in Rostov-on-Don in 1977. He represented Bulgaria with Albena Denkova. In Ice Age he took part for the 1st time and skated with the actress Tatiana Arntgolts. Despite the fact that they didn’t skate in the semi-final and they haven’t the opportunity to struggle for the victory ( ), on the “New Okhta” ’s point of view Maxim and Tanya are the real revelation of the 3rd Ice Age and they are worth of our attention.

- Maxim, how did Ice Age influence on you? Did it help to find smth new in yourself?

- This project is unique. Firstly I was surprised by the quickness of learning to skate by our actors, ‘stars’. Secondly, the professional skaters develop and come to a new level of their skating and work. It is not a show or a competition – it’s a theatre where the unique practice is for everybody. I was very happy that I was invited (I was invited last year either but couldn’t skate due to my own private reasons), I came to Moscow in advance, helped Ilia to teach our ‘stars’ to skate. I was trying to be in earnest about this project and I hope that I did it well. We played to the audience. We were trying to please them, we wanted them like our dances. If we are voted for and in the Internet there are a lot of good opinions, it means that we are doing everything right.

- All your fans seriously worry about your subsequent participating after you missed the semi-final. What happened?

- All that happened is natural. During the project Tanya not only skated (and it is a hard job for not a sportsman) but acted in films and went on tours. Besides during the last week Tanya asked about two practices a day. She went to bed late and woke up early. And she lived all our roles from our dances in herself. That’s why every taping, every performance is the real stress for her. And when all the tiredness to the end of the project gathered and also the weather changed, her blood pressure increased. Fortunately, Tatiana recovered quickly, didn’t want to stay in the hospital, went to another taping. She was put a dropper every day, but then she came to the ice and skated.

The second part

- How did you feel your dance from the ‘War theme’?

- Of course the war didn’t touch us but this theme is close to everybody in Russia because our grandparents were at that war. When Nina Urgant sings the song from the film ‘The Belarusian Station’ you understand that it is not difficult to live this character. This song has such strong energy and influences on you. So when you are on ice surrounded by the audience and all the light effects (it means that not in the war situation) you feel yourself like in the trench. I don’t pay attention to our marks for this dance – we fell and we don’t care of it. There is not smth extraordinary in this fall: everybody skated with a great effort and Tanya is not an exception.

- How was the dance on the music from ‘Requiem for a dream’ born? Is it your favourite film?

- The film is very impressive. I saw it only once and don’t want to see it once again – it influenced on me strongly. But I heard the music earlier than I saw the film and wanted to make a free dance on it in a case Albena and I will participate in the Olympics in Vancouver in 2010. Since that time I had the music in my PC. And when we came to the project I suggested it to Sasha Zhulin and Igor Orshulyak. Igor has his office in his car: he sits, listens to some songs and musical compositions and creates the idea. We sat into his car together; I turned on the music from ‘Requiem for a dream’ and after that Igor said: ‘I have the idea! I don’t what to listen to smth different! Come and make the dance!’ He told me about his idea and I liked it. This dance is not entertaining. It will be difficult to skate it for the second time because it won’t impress the audience the same way as it was then. I saw their eyes and understood how we influenced with our dance. Yeah, this dance is one of my favourite ones. And Tanya understood her role great, her make-up was rather frightening, the idea of the dance was great – everything inosculated.

- And what about Scorpions ‘Still loving you’? Is it your favourite song?

- All the music from our dances is my favourite. We danced Handel, Scorpions, Requiem, Magomaev; I liked the song ‘The eternal love’ very much. And when I learned about the War theme I immediately took the song from ‘The Belarusian Station’ and ‘The Dark Night’. During some period of my life Scorpions was my favourite band. Ilia Averbukh gave the idea of the dance; we agreed. I suggested to Tanya very difficult lifts and elements, and I am still very surprised that she agreed to do them.

The third part

- All your interviews differ in thoroughgoing honesty. You don’t try to get away from the answer or to feign. Is it easy to be so honest?

- I don’t deceive, that’s why I shouldn’t be cunning and shift. My parents taught me to tell the truth. Maybe it is necessary when you can get from the answer in a nice way, but I haven’t the things I should get from. I try to accept all the problems as they are. I have a lot of problems now and I think I’ll have them in future too. It is useless to run from them or to shed tears, that’s why you should meet all the fate’s challenges strongly.

- It is good that you are not arrogant, don’t pose as…

- (smiling) And whom should I pose to?

- And why has your site the name ‘Love and Magic’?

- It is created by our Bulgarian fans. They feel Albena and me in such a way. We of course have love; and when there is love the magic appears.

- Are your dances with Albena about love?

- Firstly our dances differed in abstraction and creativity, and then we showed different feelings: love, hatred, love adjoining hatred. We went to extremes, but we had good teachers who helped to live our dances. Maybe due to this our dances were so clear to the audience.

- Where is your home now?

- On the ice rink! (laughing) I spent 26 years on it. Albena’s parents live in Sofia, mine – in Moscow. Albena’s parents became dear to me, and mine – to her. I feel myself in Bulgaria and in Moscow well. Both these countries gave me a lot; it is useless to compare them. But the sportsman lives where he has a job. Now we have the job in Russia, really perfect job…

The forth part

- You were in St.Petersburg several times. Have you favourite places in our city?

- Petersburg is the nicest city. Once I went on the tour during ‘the white nights’ to watch it better. When I am in St.Petersburg I always turn my head from side to side because the entire city consists of architectural monuments – it is impossible not to look around. I like to come to your city to the competitions. Because the Sport Palace ‘Yubileiny’ is always full of people. In Moscow there are many empty places in such competitions and the audience doesn’t applaud great. But in Piter the atmosphere is always great, the fans are active and they are ready to throw out to the ice. To perform in Piter is a great pleasure, you feel the real support that you can’t find in any other city in the world. Thanks to Petersburg!

- In your active way of life have you time for books?

- I am reading a lot. We have long trips so we have time to read. I grew up in a ‘reading’ family, we had a large home library. I read all the works by Joule Vern, Jack London, Valter Scott; I liked the adventure books very much. Among the modern authors I like Sergei Lukianenko. It is not a stupid fantastic work, it is really clever books like Strugatski brothers (and I also read all their books). Btw I like different books: funny and serious. I adore Esenin and Pushkin. My aunt was a teacher of Russian and Literature. Maybe my love to the literature is inherited with the genes: I like to read and I hadn’t problems with the Literature at school.

- Not long ago during the ISU Grand Prix Events you were the commentator on one of the sport channels. How did you become the commentator?

- I became? (laughing) It’s simple: I was invited. So I came and liked. I hope they will invite me again.

The last part (sorry that I did it so looong, I had guests )

- Do you like the job of a coach?

- It’s a hard job. You should have strong nerves, to be a good psychologist. Btw I don’t work as a coach; I am only working to be the coach by the instruction of Sasha Zhulin. Sasha phoned and suggested to work with him. I agreed with pleasure. It is easy to work with him: he is not a despot or a dictator; he always has a dialog with a sportsman. He has a good group, it consists of strong pairs. Sasha invited me as the second coach, but I chose the work of a consultant now – because of the tour of Ice Age I can’t be on practices constantly. That’s why I come and help when I can. And it is a great responsibility. Not long ago the Moscow championship was; and Sasha and I were at the board of the rink, I couldn’t find a place to myself (was nervous). You stand and feel yourself helpless, can’t do anything, only feel nervous. And when everything ended Sasha turned to me and said: ‘Now you understand what it is to be a coach!’ And I answered: ‘Yeah, but I don’t know how to bear it…’ And he added: ‘Imagine how it is… when your wife is at the Olympics…’

- Whom do you want to be in future?

- I don’t think of it. Everything is so unpredictable, that you can only become disappointed if you plan smth. Now I have a great job and I hope I will have opportunities to fulfill myself in future.

- What can you wish to the readers of ‘New Okhta’?

- Health. I understood that when a person is healthy (physically, morally, mentally), he can overcome everything. When you have strength, you can solve all your problems. And everything will be…
