look, i found an interesting interview with Alexei.it's from 2004 or 2005.i don't know for sure.but he's candid as always.if any of has pics of him, i will gladly receive them. i have also.i'll post them later
Q-Lyosha, where do you prefer to rest?
I love nature. That's why I have a house in the country. Wonderful places there, with lakes all around.
Q-Why weren't you coming to St Petersburg for so long?
My tough way to the Olympic Medal began in 2001. After the Olympics I had a month to prepare for the World Championships. Then there were tours, and after that practices for the upcoming season began. Of course, I wanted to be back in my home town right after the Olympics, but alas, not everything goes as we plan.
Q-Have you met with your(female) fans? At the Grand Prix Finale in St Petersburg I was watching them "hunting" for your coach Tatiana Tarasova and trying to ask her about you, to give her presents for you.
Right. Tatiana brought me a whole bunch of gifts and presents. I didn't manage to meet with my fans here. After a long parting I wanted to spend more time with my mom and grandma. I think my fans will understand me.
Q-Evgeny Plushenko show was held in our city in June. Wouldn't you like to organize something similar?
Before you start doing something, you have to know what exactly you need to do. I havemy show in the US, but it's not a big one. Unfortunately, we don't have the arena big enough. To organise something like that in Peter I would have to live there.
Q-Move?
Right. I am often asked, why I'm there, overseas, and not here in Peter. In the US, I have everything, my job, my home, and my beloved coach. I'm not going to move anywhere without Tatiana. While she's working in the USA, I'm going to stay there and do my job.
Q-How will Alexei amaze us in the new season?
You better paraphrase the question and ask, "What will amaze Alexei Yagudin in the new season?". I think, right now my career depends on my hip condition. The surgery went well and the rehabilitation was okay too, but the hip starts to bother me again. But I'm still optimistic and I want to particpate in the eligible competitions this coming season.
Q-Will it be Classical or Modern music?
One program will be modern. During the past seasons we were choosing classical music or themes from soundtracks to the famous movies. I would like to prove myselfin another genre. I don't know what will come out of that, but I will try. In the short program people will see me in a different role. In the free program, the music will be more serious, but not classical. For four years I've been waiting for this program, but Tatiana thought I wasn't mature enough for it. Only now she is ready to allow me to skate to it. For the modern number we've chosen two tracks, we just have to listen and to decide the final version.
Q-Your relationship with your former coach Alexei Mishin and with your rival Evgeny Plushenko are often discussed in the media. Can you clear up what is true and what is false?
I can't say that me and Zhenya have a perfect relationship, we don' write each other, don't speak on the phone. But whenever we meet at skating events, we say "hello". After the competition either me or him congratulate the other. We both had the task to perform suitably, and life has shown who won. With Alexei Nikolaevich, things are much more complicated. It seems to me that he was the reason for all this stir. Tatiana never attacked anyone. She's always in the position of a protecting mother. In that conflict she only answered Mishin, but in a more proper manner. He simply was trying to justify me leaving. He was offended that I left him. I guess, Alexei Nikolaevich will be feeling sorry and reproach Zhenya for a long time because on the moment they had to win, they didn't. They have to wait four years until the next Olympics. I never said anything bad about Alexei Nikolaevich. Only after the Olympics I didn't resist and answered him.
Q-But still, you cant deny Alexei Mishin's contribution to your success.
I often hear "Alexei Mishin did a lot for your vistory at the Olympics". I agree with that, but he doesn't have anything to do with the gold medals I won with Tatiana Anatoljevna. And, to be honest, I'm on vacation now and the last thing I'd like to do is discuss my professional activities. When I'm off the ice, I try not to think about skating. Tatiana asked me once, "Do you ever dream about practices or competitions?" I told her I'm not that much crazy about figure skating and I think sport should be seperated from the everyday life.
Q-And what is there, behind that seperating line, for Alexei Yagudin?
I guess, I won everything in the sport. It would be interesting to try something else. That's why I was very happy to get the proposal from the St Petersburg movie makers, to cast the animated movie. Can't wait to be invited into the shooting area. It's also nice that we will have to work in my native St Petersburg. The movie is on the theme of the ice opera "Infinity". I'm not going to reveal all the secrets, I can only say that its a kind fairytale with good music. The more you listen to it the more you like it.
Q-Fans are interested if Alexei Yagudin is going to get married?
There is a girl whom I love. Of course life has its own ways, but I think I will get married soon.
"As you may have heard, Alexei has retired from eligible skating. He is still with the Stars on Ice show the last I heard of, and will now coach the French skater Brian Joubert. Good luck to him in future endeavors"! (it's long ,i know...but it's worth reading it:D)
