| As promised, that's the Alyosha's topic! Please post here every information you find about him. First, I'll paste here the message I wrote in Joubert's topic Last saturday I watch Alexey in a russiand edition of Who wants to be a millionnaire heart2 heart2 he was very cute and answered correctly to 10 questions without using hints (or whatever it's called) and finally, at the 11th questions he asked the spectators, but they gave the wrong answer Sorry.. and he lost! For Lera - just for information - the question was In which Cremlin square is situated Tzar-pushka? I suppose it's a very difficult question. | |

Steven Cousins, a British men's skater. I dislike him. I'm supposing that these photos were from Stars on Ice. I think I recall seeing this show live. But, I'm really not sure.

I think it's because at the end of words in Russian, you pronounce "g" as "k" and "Yag" is the diminutive of Yagudin, so you pronouce "Yak". But it's better to wait for our dear russian specialist. Vaaaaaaaal !!! Where are you ? My favorites are "Alyosha" and "Lyosha". Thank you Alex for it !!! :<33:

Yeeeeeess!!! Dostoievski killed me with his books!!!! Even though russian literature is great...I find him very complicated. It's hard to follow the character because he has so many names.. (and I have a problem with names..that's the first thing I forget after reading a book... ) - Rachel wrote:

Thank you Alex for it !! you're very welcome...and thanks for your explanations I also like Lyosha a lot. But I find Sasha much more appealing. Lerka, Alexei can't be shortened like this?? I mean, it's not diminutive for a girl, right?!?! Why wasn't in the list?!

Lerka, Alexei can't be shortened like this?? I mean, it's not diminutive for a girl, right?!?! Why wasn't in the list?! I'm not our great russian specialist, but I think that Sasha is the diminutive for Alexandra and Alexander (or Alexandr). It's not only for a girl, but I don't think that it's for "Alexei". For exemple : Sasha Cohen, Sasha Zhulin, Sasha Abt... I love Sasha very much. Maybe we can call you like that, what do you think ? :albino: But don't you find that Alexei has too much diminutives ? No, you want more ?

I suspected that Sasha is for Alexandra and Alexander. But the name Alexei has some resemblances with Alexander and that's why I asked. Maybe I don't remember correctly but I think I read somewhere this diminutive for our Alexei... Call me Sasha?? Russian names for me!? So cute... hehe... - Marina wrote:

- what nice, Alex and woooow in this way it's difficult to understand about wich person Russians are talking. Do they do this with every name?
Yes, dear! We do have this with EVERY name we adore using diminutives As for Yak.. actually, we don't call him like that often, maybe just some fans. The moooost frequent diminutive for him is Yags and Yak, you will laugh, but this word "Yak" can be translated from russian as a huge bull And I think Marina is right, they wrote "Yak" (and not "Yag"), because we pronounce it Yak. You know, we don't pronounce all the sounds like they are written.. it's very difficult for people who learn russian, but.. it's true.. "Sasha" can't be used as diminutive for Alexei It is diminutive for both girls and boys - for Alexandra and Alexandr. So, Marinochka, ma demi-russe, you know everything! :<33: :<33: :<33:
