So, this time I was much better prepared: On the eve of the show I spend some 1.5 hours in a store trying to find something special for our darlings, and at last I bought these “skaters”:





There’s no need to tell you how excited I was for a couple of days before the show and how happy I felt on the day of it when I realized I was going to see them in a couple of hours. So, I bought some flowers, took my “figure skaters”, Bulgarian mini-flag and a card where I wrote “Thank you for everything, come to Astrakhan again”, and an hour before the show was to begin my Kostomarov-loving friend and I were near the Sports Palace.
So they let us in, and we ran to our nice sits just near the entrance from where the figure skaters come to the rink. Well, our sits really were near the entrance, the one OPPOSITE the entrance from where they went to the skating rink. To say that it was shocking is to say nothing. It was sooo far to the opposite entrance, and I remembered how difficult it had been to get there last time, and I was puzzled and disappointed.
My mood improved when I saw Albena on the ice in a nice dark-green dress dancing waltz:



As every normal A&M fan during the opening ceremony I was watching only them and was touched by the way they were holding hands (the three of them).
Alissa and Maxim were the third to skate, and they skated “Kalinka” which may be rather nice indeed, but I don’t really accept Maxim in the image of a simple village guy. It’s so not Maximish Alissa looks very cute.
The next several dances I was trying to figure out how to reach the opposite side of the hall, Then A&M appeared on the ice and I was for the hundredth time dazzled by their skating. They were not just skating (especially in comparison with the non-professionals who had skated before), they were flying just flying above the ice.
So, a second after they finished skating I jumped from my place and rushed through the palace to the opposite side of it (and I was so fast that had to wait for them for a while). She looked pretty surprised when she saw I had a BG flag, asked me to hold it and signed it with the marker I had bought especially for that purpose – the marker was so bright that there is Albena’s signature on the rails of the sports palace Then she began to call Maxim but he had already left, she was going to go and ask him to come personally, but I said it’s o’k – the lady sitting on the first row was not very happy about me standing there (though I think she was just mean – I really didn’t prevent her from watching the skaters). So, I ran back to my place, a little bit unsatisfied – I really should have said to Albena that I had the flag because I have been their fan from times immemorial and that they are really great skaters.
In the second part of the show Maxim skated “The two souls” with Alissa (and that was good, though, frankly speaking, part of the dance I was trying to see Albena watching them , then comes the congratulation which you have seen, and some time later A&M appeared on the ice together with their Eternal Love.
I didn’t really like Maxim’s costume – I think it’s from the dance to Arbenina’s song, to my mind, the wonderful red dress and the military suit Maxim wore the first time I saw the dance, the contrast between them make this dance so deep and add some new meaning. Anyway the skating was glorious. Well, I believe, it was – anyway, I have proved to almost lose my consciousness every time I see them dancing live in front of me, so I’m not the best judge. But my not so humble opinion is that they were among the few skaters that evening who skated with heart and talent.
