Eastern Promises

Eastern Promises is an excellent movie. By far the best of 2007 (so far). Viggo Mortensen, Vincent Cassel, Armin-Mueller Stahl, Naomi Watts and the rest of the cast are excellent in this. I can't say there are any real faults in this film but it is very dark and violent and that is expected. It's based around the Vory V Zakone "Thieves in law" which is essentially the Russian mob. There is a lot of graphic gory realistic violence in this so don't expect stylized Matrix style fighting. This is not for the weak of stomach.

I heard that he learned Russian for this movie. zvet

And was hanging around in the part of Russia that he character was supposed to be from, in order to get the correct accent. :vo:
