| Competing in their final season Denkova and Staviski's performance to Seven Deadly Sins, could not make up their five-point deficit from the earlier rounds.
They suffered their first loss of the season, finishing 5.74 points behind the French.
"No medal or judge can compare with the reaction of the audience, so it that respect it was a great night for us," said 32-year-old Denkova.
"At the beginning of the season we won every competition we entered, and the worlds will be a new competition again so we hope to do better in Tokyo."

"The last-year world champions couldn't get higher that the third place in Poland. Though their Free Dance was no doubt the best one" - a Russian journalist wrote it in her article about the FD.

And another opinion of a popular Russian journalist who writes about figure-skating and was in Warsaw yesterday (taken form her board):
"As to where Free Dance I'm not ready to say that their dance was absolutely the best one (to insist on that one must know much more technical details than I do), but, you know, when they finished their dance, the whole sector which was full of sportsmen and coaches from different countries (the house was full that night) was the first to rise and began to applode to them standing. And I think this kind of audience understands figure skating much better that we do".

Maxim: Of course, we came here not for the third place. We just realized pretty well that withour "our" judge we don't have any chances to fight with the wonderful sportsmen who are supported by such powerful federations. Certainly, Isabelle and Olivier have deserved, I can say, have suffered this victory. Let's see what they will be like without "their"judge at the Worlds in Tokio"...
Judging by the applouse, the winners are the Bulgarians, then come Khokholova and Novitsky and then the silver medalists.

| "World Ice Skating Champs Disgraced with 3rd Place in Warsaw"
http://www.novinite.com/view_news.php?id=75923
Can you tell from the title already that the Bulgarians aren't pleased?
Poor Albenka and Max! I felt really sorry for them during all parts of the competition, but they cheered me up, first with their wonderful skating - that FD was a beautiful, beautiful challenge - and second with the expression Max wore during the wait for the FD marks, clearly challenging the judges to mark them down again. And their interviews on Eurosport were so nice! They showed great sportsmanship in congratulating Isabel and Olivier, and they again came across as such lovely people. Max saying that they skated "nicely... I think" made me smile. Well, you've made me stare with rapt attention at the screen, crossing my fingers all the time, thinking "please please don't fall and please please be fair in the judging", but apart from that... not at all nice! :-)
We love you. You know that, don't you? And we know who the champions, World or otherwise, are! Even though I really like Isabel & Olivier, and am glad for them, I think that Albenka and Max were better all the way.

| Here's another one from the halfway-stage. http://www.novinite.com/view_news.php?id=75883 Bulgaria's Albena and Maxim: We're Furious! The Bulgarian paper seems quite heavily biased towards Albenka and Max, calling Delobel/Schoenfelder's OD "a much easier and not so exciting program". - Quote :
- Albena and Maxim are puzzled about their assessment, as they can't see their mistakes. They think that the minor ones are due to the skating-rink's smaller size.
Albenka touching the rink-side probably was, although it's a mistake nonethless. And Max did have a (very) little problem with his twizzles. Still, I think those two little mistakes would have been worth nowhere near the difference they got. The downmarked spin was probably most of it, and that sounded like politics at work. - Quote :
- The Bulgarians don't believe they have real chance to win the competition but they go all-out for the medals.
And we love you all the more for it! :-)
