Cup of China

Today begins Cup of China. Here you can see the entries and the results.
We'll see Elene Gedevanishvili (I like her a lot)! And I think the competion in ice dancing will be quite interesting - Belbin/Agosto, two russian couples Domnina/Shabalin and Khokhlova/Novitsky.
Now I'm trying to calculate what time it will be in Bulgaria - 17:10 chinese time (the CDs) hmmm maybe 11-12 bulgarian time

Well it is VERY good (don-t like Tanith that much but it's not so good if the marks are up to some mistakes B&A made.

I don't like Tanith & Ben (although she is very pretty! hehe), but the were World vice-champions.. and Oksana & Max.. so, everything seems to be like with Navka & Kostomarov - first russian couple must be placed very high. Just because it's russian. Although I love Oksana & Max, they can't "jump" that quickly ahead of others.. IMHO.

Ler, I think that it's not quite that with D&Sh. They were quite on the same junior level with B&A but the problem was that they were the SECOND Russian pair, not the first one.
But I may be wrong ^)

Well.. it's quite difficult to judge.. ) we will see everything at the FGP, Europeans & Worlds.. or at least when we will get some videos from Cup of China with B&A and Dom&Shab

Oh! Aliona & Robin!!!! They are there!!!! They are with Ingo Steuer I'm so happy!!!!!!
Although they are only third now I'm still happy and hope to see them at the Final!

Don't forget that there were also a LOT of politics for B&A until this year. Now that Russia will not help them anymore, and Ukraine has lost G&G, it is only natural that they will fall back a little bit-- this happened already at Worlds. It is also natural that with Navka gone, DomShab will move up some-- not just because they are now the first Russian pair, but also because (as has already been said) they were held back a little bit when they were only the second Russian team.

Also, Tanith and Ben did not start training until quite late-- the end of August, I think. So that they are not in top shape right now is only to be expected.

Still, it's a very exciting competition! I have always thought that after the 2006 Olympic cycle was over those two teams would be very close, so I am extremely interested to see how this plays out over the next few years. :queen:

I don't like B/A either. But the difference between them is very, very small. I hoep D/Sh will show their best in the FD.

I'm a bit confused, because yesterday in the starting list I saw the name of Elene Gedevanishvili, and now I can't see her. Maybe she was replaced from someone I hope that she misses the Cup of China not because of some injury

I don't think Elene's injured, I think it's just the stress/complications of her current living and training situations that have forced her to pull out. She withdrew almost 2 weeks ago, so I'm not quite sure why she was on the entry list so long. She's also withdrawn from NHK.

I continue to be intrigued by how closely B/A and Domnina/Shabalin are being marked. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Here are some vids from the ice dance competition (poor quality):

Belbin/Agosto OD - LOVED her dress, HATED his suit. I think this OD isn't bad.
Domnina/Shabalin OD
Khokhlova/Novitski OD - I don't like women in pants dancing to tango, but that's the only thing I didn't like about this OD. It's really beautiful.

Domnina/Shabalin FD
Belbin/Agosto FD - There is a saying in bulgarian: "Никой не може да ти направи това, което сам си напровиш" (Nobody can do to you this, what YOU can do to yourself). And it's about bad things.
Khokhlova/Novitski FD - GREAT FD!!! My favourite among this three. And because of the costumes, some of the movements and the oriental music I couldn't stop myself to connect this with Albie and Maxim's Afrah Baladi, although it isn't THAT good. But still, it's a beautiful program.

Well...I don't like Belbin and Agosto FD...It is not bad...but there is something that's missing.I mean...I can fall asleep while watching it.But Jana and Sergei FD is really nice...I love it! It is very very very interesting-Lovely!

well, I'm not surprised at all now we can be almost sure that if Tanith & Ben go to CoR they will be placed after Domnina & Shabalin. And I have only one question now - what will the judges do with Isa & Olivier?
