Well, I'm going to post the songs from every artist and write a few comments and impressions on it. I tried to catch the essence and to explain the context for you. Maybe I did it....
Ovidiu Lipan TandaricaI’m posting a piece of his work. It’s not a classical song..
He is a very, very good drummer. His shows are breathtaking and you can’t really follow his hands. He played with Phoenix for a while. His pieces are very rythmic and frenzy.
I love drumms and those sounds. I’m amazed with every beat and sound. It’s quite interesting. I uploaded for you a longer piece so you have the chance to listen more types of rhythm.

PhoenixThey represent one of the most loved bands in Timisoara. They embody the entire teenage spirit from 60 – 70 - 80s. Even 90s. They are a symbol for almost 2 generations, considering the fact that they still impress people nowadays.
Phoenix has a long existence and they are among the longeval bands ever from Romania.
Their music is a combination beetwen archaic folk and modern music. They combine etno elements (violin, flute, pan-pipe) with rock (electrical quitars, drumms, bass). Sometimes they use choirs and symphonic orchestras. They experiment a lot.
Phoenix meant light in a dark period (communism). Because of hidden messages and multiple meanings, they were banned and forbidden...
Phoenix - Timisoara (the name of my town
)
Phoenix are from Timisoara. After hard times, first highly apreciated than tortured by the system, they arrived finally home (the song is written in 1992 – after 30 years from the beginings). They dedicate a song for Timisoara saying that they are happy to be home….they want to dance and be happy and forget about dark times.
Phoenix - Fata Verde (Green Girl)
Fata Verde – Green Girl (this is a cute, amazing song about a green girl with forest hair (they don’t say “like a forest” so I tried to maintain the sense) )
Phoenix - Mica Tiganiada
Mica Tiganiada – “the little..” - I don’t know how to translate "tiganiada". It’s somehow related to gypsies. The song is quite catchy…
Phoenix - Mugur de Fluier
Mugur de fluier – “sprout/burgeon of fife” (the translation is not very accurate..)
we love (most of us) in general to sing this song in our trips. If somebody has a guitar and knows how to play, than it’s a real pleasure to sing this song. It’s an amazing feeling. I see it as an ode to spring…
If you want more...
http://www.transsylvania-phoenix.com/ro/disc.html - fragments of songs. Here you can listen “In umbra marelui urs (bear)” – (you can also read URSS...) which I currently don’t have on my computer. It is a good song…although the quallity isn’t the best.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fanfara 10 PrajiniI always knew that gipys were very talented on playing music...even though it is very hard not to apply a stereotipical pattern on them..I belive that "10 prajini" is the one of the bands that makes you shiver..only by lisning their music..it is a romanian and gypsy traditional style combined in such a way that you can not forget..soon.
Ave Maria - I can’t stop loving this song. I think it is one of the most powerful songs ever (in this area)
Margareta - I can't really describe the song...but it can give you a great mood.
They work a lot wit Emir Kusturica and they usually assure the soundtrack for the movies. They also cooperate with Ovidiu Lipan Tandarica.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CargoCargo - Batacanda – this song is very rythmic. I really love the way it sounds. Batacanda is the name of a specific dance. To be honest I have no idea what this dance is about, cause I wasn’t able to find smth on this..
A little fragment :
“Focul arde si miros de fum
Noaptea cade, dar ei
Danseaza Batacanda ““The fire is burning and there’s smell of smoke,
The night is falling , but they
Dance Batacanda” And the second song is Cargo - Ziua Vrajitoarelor – “Day of the Witches”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SevenI know very little about them. I don't even know if I have the right to share the song. Ooops…I can't remember in what manner I received their songs..
But I like it very much.
Seven - Cu Aripi Moi - (It’s so hard to fly)“With soft wings”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TravkaThis is a young underground band that I like very much. They are currently trying to release/produce the first album. They had few concerts in Timisoara and also at the Black Sea during summer. They are more or less underground. Nobody really knows much about them. The lyrics are written by the vocal. It’s poetry, his own creations, toughts and fears. I find them very interesting and intriguing
Travka - Ce noapte... – "What a night" (Hehe…you should hear him explain what a night
)
Travka – I don’t know the title of the song…but I like it
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vama VecheVama Veche is a very dear band for me. They describe very well, in their early songs, the whole “Vama Veche spirit”. They praise the sea. I tried to explain what this means…but I think other did a better job.
“Vama Veche is a Romanian soft rock band, founded in 1996, which was also the year of in which they recorded the song "Nu am chef azi" which became a hit in 1997 in Romania. The front man is Tudor Chirila. (hot, intelligent guy..but also a bit selfish and mean. He is also an actor )
Their first concert took place in 1996 at Lăptaria lui Enache. On March 1, 1997, the band played the opening of the Led Zeppelin concert at Bucharest in front of 10,000 people. “
They got the name after a commune in Romania - on the Black Sea coast, near the border with Bulgaria, at 28.3 E longitude, 43.5 N latitude The name literally means "Old customs point"
“Even in Communist Romania, Vama Veche had a reputation as a non-mainstream tourist destination, which has only grown since the Romanian Revolution of 1989. During the communist era, concern for border patrol sight lines spared Vama Veche the development that occurred in other Romanian Black Sea resorts. It became a hangout for intellectuals; for reasons that are not exactly clear, the generally repressive regime of Nicolae Ceauşescu chose to tolerate this countercultural oasis, as long as people had their identity papers with them. Accommodations consisted of tents or rooms rented from peasants or fishermen. [1]
Famous for its nude beach, since the late 1990s Vama Veche has experienced development and gentrification, which has led to a "Save Vama Veche" campaign that is lobbying for the area's environmental conservation and a halt to development and mass tourism.” The songs are very interesting and the lyrics are so simple and yet so complex. They sing about simple things in life, mistakes we all do. They sing about the great feeling of liberty that sea, water, wind and spontaneousity causes. I can’t explain better
Vama Veche - Vama Veche - the beginning and the end of the song are the signals of the train leaving from Bucharest to Mangalia than Vama Veche.
Vama Veche - De ce?– “Why” – The song is a loooong list of questions and things he doesn’t like to do or he can’t do.
I’ll try to translate some fragmenets cause I love the words oo much.
De ce nu pot sa tac? – “Why can’t I shut up?”
De ce cand rad e rau? – “Why laughing is bad? ”
De ce sa mint zambind? – “Why should I lie smiling?”
De ce sa-nvat sa lupt? – “Why should I learn to fight”

De ce doar eu gresesc? – “Why am I the only one that makes mistakes?”
De ce doar eu ma zbat? – “Why am I the only one to struggle?”
De ce am uitat sa rad? – “Why have I forgot to laugh?”
De ce platesc doar eu? – “Why am I the only one to pay?”

Vama Veche - Iubeste – “Love” – it’s an inducement to love, it’s an exortation to love..all the details and all the little things there are
Vama Veche reggae song - just nice and funny

Zdob si Zdubhttp://www.zdob-si-zdub.com/
They aren’t a romanian group, but some of the songs are in romanian and they are also very apreciated here.
Zdob şi Zdub are a Moldovan musical group, based in Chişinau, whose work for the last several years combines elements of hip-hop (especially sampling) and hardcore punk with traditional Romanian music and Roma music. The name is onomatopoeic for the sound of a drum beat. The band represented Moldova in the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest, finishing 6th.
Lerochka, you probably know them….Any impressions on them??
They have songs in romanian but also in russian. By the way, I love their accent. It’s moldavian. It’s so interesting but sometimes very hard to follow. They have huge russian influences…
Zdob si Zdub - Videli Nochi - it’s in russian I think…Help?! You should see romanians singing this only on parts – cause there are words that are similar. It’s actually funny but you can’t control yourself..you really feel the need to sing.
Zdob si Zdub - Zdubii bateti tare - nicee!!!!
and...

ConexiuniThey have a marvellus love song. It’s not even a love song. It’s poetry, it’s idolatrization of the loved one in a very non-clichéic way.
Conexiuni -Tu - "You"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I tried to post songs that contain romanian lyrics, for you to see the language. But on the other hand the song has to suffer, cause you won’t understand a thing
If you have patiency and time to listen the songs, I’d love to hear your impressions.
I promise, if ther is a next time, there won't be so many songs....I just couldn't make up my mind right now.
Done!!
- a hell of a job
Enjoy!!
