PostSubject: Re: Albena and Maxim as choreographers / coaches :))))   Sun 31 Jan - 2:01

Very long interview with Joubert from 29.01.2010.
I´ll only translate the important parts for us.

Do you know reading that Albie and Max are not only the choreographers of Brians LP, but that Albie even has chosen the new costume for Brian´s LP?

http://www.livesport.ru/games2010/2010/01/29/joubert/

Translation by google:
"(...)
- And who chose the music for this program?
Myself.
- Were there other options?
No. When I first heard this music in the past year, I decided what it will be my random on the Olympic season. Although, of course, we made a small change.
- Is it too risky to be taking music from an exponential number of Olympic champion? (To the tune of «Ancient Land» has already ridden in the demonstration Alexei Yagudin - approx. Livesport.Ru)
Yes at first I did not even know about it!
- Really?
Yes.
- And Alexei himself once commented on your choice of music?
Not yet, but I hope that he liked my program. He said Maxim Staviski (Maxim Staviski and Albena Denkova - choreographers Brian Joubert - approx. Livesport.Ru), that the program is well placed. I am in any case, try to show all that is capable of.

- You work with Albena Denkova and Maxim Staviski from the beginning of this season. What has changed in your skating as a result of this cooperation?
Our work has brought something new to me and them. They were the first to choreograph for the figure skater. For me, it was also a challenge, because I was trying to achieve higher ratings for the components, to improve the artistry and choreography. At the beginning of the season I just on this and worked. Now I can even see figure skating in a different way. This is not the only ones jumping, as it was before. Now I enjoy my own skating.
- But Albena and Maxim - dancers. You specifically chose them?

Yes. I knew exactly what I need to improve in my skating, so I turned for help to them. They were always very original, when riding for yourself, and I liked their program. That is why I chose them and I'm sure made the right choice.
- You also changed the coach after the World Cup in Los Angeles. Now you feel more confident?
Yes. We have lost rapport with Jean-Christophe Simond, it became a problem. Training is no longer enjoyable. With Laurent (Dupuy - approx. Livesport.Ru) I feel calmer, more confident, and it is yielding results.
- Returning to the question about the music. Have you seen the short program of the Armenian skater Pierre Balian? He rolls under the soundtracks for the "Matrix" and "Requiem for a Dream." You are reminded of nothing?
Yes, I heard music, saw his program during the workouts. Up in the competition no longer looking. I love the music for the "Matrix", under it, I rolled my best program, so this is a very strange feeling - to see how your favorite music for other skaters skate.
- You have a new suit for the free program. Why?
It was the decision of Albena. The costume she chose.

- And how important are the costumes for you personally?
It is very important because I need to feel comfortable and confident. Beauty, in turn, is important for the audience and judges. Costumes - is as much a part of figure skating, the perception of the program.

http://www.24chasa.bg/Article.asp?ArticleId=375148 (in Bulgarian)

Translation by google:
"Albena and Maxim travel will travel at weekend
Albena Denkova and Maxim Stavisky will travel to Vancouver at the end of the week. Double world champion in figure skating of ice dancing in a few months prepared the choreography of the French title hope for Brian Joubert. Former gold medalist at the world is still recovering from a leg injury received in training. According to this one can estimate that Joubert is not sufficiently strong mentality and this may prevent him from fighting with Evgeni Plushenko, Evan Lisachek, Stephane Lambiel and others in Vancouver.
Denkova and Staviski are still in Poitiers, where they train Brian. Bulgarian couple previously had holdings in several galaprograms.
For gold is tight Tannith Belbin and Benjamin Agosto. American dance couple rely on specialists Natalia Linichuk and Gennady Karponosov with which Albena and Maxim won the title. (24 hours)"

Here you go, Petra:

According to the initial plan he was to have done three quadriples in his Free Program, but then we thought it over and understood that there is no necessity to risk and do three quadriples and an axel, and we agreed on two different quadriples - salchow and toeloop.

I can't say it was some kind of Joubert reaction to Plushenko, I can tell Joubert was just not ready for the Europeans as he was seriously injured in December and didn't skate at all for three weeks.

Besides I think he was not ready psychologically as in the Short Program he was behind Jenya only for a turn: Plushenko had 4-3 combination and he 4-2, and when he felt that he was so close, he said to me: 'So, it's possible to beat him?'
"You can see it yourself" His components were higher than Jenya's and it was such a stress for him and we was so anxious to beat him in the Free Program that he just burnt out. Of course, he managed to skate well, but Jenya's jumps are unique - I haven't seen such stability for a long time - it's as if he can jump just in any moment - any jump. Albena and I we worked on some dancing things, worked on his footwork, his upper body - what he lacked in his previous programs. Of course, he has good male skating but we want him to be more flexible, have better choreography to be ready to fight Lambiel, Lysacek, Plushenko - people who have always worked with a choreographer, as far as I know Brian didn't have a choreographer before.

(I couldn't understand some words though Smile)))) baaa )

At 15.March 2010 there will be a test skate between Brian Joubert, Yannick Ponsero and Alban Préaubert, presumably in Bercy. They will have to skate SP and LP at the same day. The one who wins this will go to Worlds, the other two will not.

So it depends on Brian now if we will be able to watch Albie and Maxi as his choreographers at the Worlds 2010 in Torino this year! poklon

Besides it seems Brian has made his decision:
"Yes" to training abroad!
"No" to leaving his mum! She will go with him!
"Yes" for a new coach!

And the best :luvzy: :
"No" for new choreographers :vo: ! Albie and Maxi will stay as his choreographers in next season! :toodoo:

Thanks to Brians forum for the info! zvet

Thanks for the news, Petra! Fingers crossed for Brian! Let's hope he'll go to Worlds (I presume, if they'll "fight" for one place, the other French skater will be Florent Amodio).

Florent Amodio goes to Worlds 2010 for sure! He´s the only French skater who does not have to do the test skate!
France has two starting places in men´s competition in Torino. The first one is for Florent. Who will be the second competitor we will know after 15.03.!

Vala, the thing with Amodio is completely fair IMO. The French Federation some months ago told him that he only can start at one international competition this season, because there are so many good French skaters beside him! They told him he to choose if he wants to start at the Euros in Tallinn or at the Worlds in Torino. And Amodio has chosen the Worlds in Torino. So I think it´s only fair now that they really let him go and let him out of this "skate at 15.03."...

ohhhh

And besides this I keep my fingers crossed for Brian too, of course! poklon
I want to watch Albie and Maxi in Torino (not live, of course, but on TV Wink )! poklon poklon

I don´t know if I shall be glad or not. In any case I have a lot of mixed feelings Buh.. about this news from official site of Brian:

1) Only Brian and Alban Préaubert skated at the test today in Bercy...
2) Brian only tried one quad in the test. Besides he had a fall... pale
3) Alban skated clean! Exclamation Exclamation

The following is backstage info and not officially confirmed by the French skating organization until now:
4) scratch scratch scratch Despite Brian has had the worser skate: Brian will go to the Worlds in Torino! Alban will only be the "replacement" for the Worlds. scratch scratch scratch

IF this really turns out to be true, then:
I mean I´m glad for Brian, because this means that there now are big chances that Albie and Maxi will be in Torino too, but ...
I don´t think that this is a fair treatment of Alban. He lost with a clean skate! And they before said the skater with the clean skate will go to Torino...

Therefore... scratch Rolling Eyes shocked Oh my poor head! Erm.. Pffff Buh..

It´s official now!
Brian will participate at the Worlds in Torino"!
Alban will only be the "replacement"!

Congrats to Brian, but this only because we now have good chances to watch Albena and Maxim standing inside the Palavela rink in Torino!

1, IMO this was not a "qualification", they just wanted to see where Brian is and if he "is" ready for Worlds. Unless he fell 10 times and performed single jumps all over the place he was the one who was going. Yannick understood that....
2, Brian tried 2 quads, 4T+2T in SP and 4T with a fall in LP.
3, Although clean, there is no report of what Alban performed. Wink

I'd love to see all 3 of them, Brian, Yannick & Alban, in Torino, they are all different skaters and all fun to watch. But there was/is just one free place and when it comes to the judges, when something like Vancouver does not happen again, Brian is the one who can score and place higher.

So good luck to Brian in Torino!

I think Yannick Ponsero was right not to participate in this "circus"...
He understood before that it was "senseless" to participate there...

sunny Congrats to Brian , Albie and Maxi and our A&M ambassador Pia Very Happy Have a great time and enjoy.

On the sceptic note one thing bothers me .Why Brian is pushing for this quads- mads since he never showed clean landing .Forget Plushenko,Stoiko and all the"macho men" behavior .If it's possible to win Olympics with clean program and triples so be it and i wish for him to skate secure but with passion. The choreography is good enough and he doesn't need quad with falls but flowless performance and i am keeping my fingers crossed for the last part. Good luck to him and our darlings in Torino. ohhhh
